Purple Smoothie Bowl
Creamy, colourful, delicately vanilla-like.
The purple smoothie bowl is the breakfast you eat with a spoon: a frozen banana, a little plant milk and five grams of ube powder blended into a thick cream. The colour comes only from the purple yam; the taste, mild and vanilla-like, goes with almost any topping. Ten minutes, a blender, and the bowl is ready.

Frequently asked questions
Do I really need a frozen banana?
Yes, for the texture: frozen, it gives a thick cream that holds the spoon and the toppings. With a fresh banana you get a drinkable smoothie — also very good, but in a glass.
Which toppings work best?
Granola for crunch, shredded coconut that echoes the taste of ube, fresh fruit for colour contrast — kiwi, blueberries, strawberries. Arrange them in rows: that is the classic bowl presentation.
Can I replace the plant milk?
With cow's milk or plain yoghurt, no problem. The thicker the liquid, the thicker the bowl: adjust the amount spoon by spoon until you reach the consistency you want.
